Here's Your Sign
I went to volunteer at Crosslines a couple years ago but was not able to continue due to responsibilities that my husband, Rick, and I had to care for our mother’s. The circumstances have changed and I began to think about volunteering again. As mission’s liaison, I see all the newsletters for all the mission supported by Southern Heights. I opened the latest one from Crosslines and on top of the regular newsletter was a flyer for volunteering. I told my husband – here’s my sign.
The next Thursday, Rick and I went to volunteer. On Thursday’s Crosslines gives out commodities to low income families that quality for assistance. That Thursday around 60 families were helped with food. Rick and I helped load their carts with the pre-determined amount of food authorized according to family size. It is humbling to see the need that exists in this community. It is rewarding to play a small part in answering the need. The following Monday I returned to Crosslines to help with those arriving to shop for clothes and other donated household items.
Crosslines can always use extra hands for a variety of jobs. Extra hands free Viola and Melissa Blankenship, who manage Crosslines, to see to tasks that they haven’t been able to because of the day to day needs at Crosslines that must be met. So, if you have been thinking about volunteering, but just need a sign.
